Why the Mets Have to Retire #8
Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter passed away early yesterday evening after a valiant battle with brain cancer at the age of 57. In Decemeber of 1984 the New York Mets made the blockbuster trade to acquire arguably the best catcher of the decade which was the cog that was the final piece of an eventual championship team in 1986.
The only player number retired by the Mets is #41, Tom “The...

Happy New Year?
As you all know, I live for sports. I’m not a fan of the greatest teams but they usually do pretty well and no matter how much I complain at my TV about them, I’m still a fan.
This month, however, has just not been fun. It’s felt like awhile since I’ve actually really enjoyed watching sports because of my teams losing and teams I dislike winning. Tonight I discovered the...

As a Mets fan, I don’t know what’s more upsetting, that Jose Reyes will be wearing this uniform from now on or that this wound up being his final at-bat as a New York Met.

Stevie Johnson Shoots Himself (and the Bills)...
After catching a touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to give the Bills a 14-7 lead in the second quarter Sunday, Stevie Johnson celebrated by mocking Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg. Unknown to Johnson at the time, he would later really shoot himself and his team by dropping at least one sure game winning touchdown.
Johnson was not too happy after the game… Hey Stevie, why so...

A Mid-Season Look at My Pre-Season NFL Picks
We’re officially at the mid-point of the 2011-2012 NFL season and now is as good a time as any to take a look back at my pre-season picks and see how I’m fairing so far.
First, the NFC:
1. NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)
Things didn’t look good for Philly for awhile after losing four consecutive games and falling to 1-4 but with two straight fairly dominant performances,...

Remembering "The Catch"
On the morning of Game 1 of the 2011 World Series between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals I’m taking a look back. Five years ago today, October 19, 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals played the New York Mets at Shea Stadium in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series. We all know the end result, as the Cardinals would win 3-1 because of a Yadier Molina homerun against...

This video really shows you how teams react when scoreboard watching during a pennant race. The Cardinals in the locker room can be heard celebrating when Omar Infante hits a walkoff homerun to beat the Wild Card leading Braves during an interview with manager Tony La Russa
